The flush-mounted ECUSB3S254F 2-port USB 3.0 Express Card Adapter allows you to add two USB 3.0 ports to an ExpressCard-enabled laptop.
The USB 3.0 card is designed to be flush-mounted into a standard 54 mm ExpressCard slot on a laptop. This allows it to remain installed on the go without fear of damage to the card or the ExpressCard slot.
With support for USB attached SCSI Protocol (UASP), this USB 3.0 controller in combination with a UASP-enabled chassis is up to 70% faster than a conventional USB 3.0 (Note: UASP requires a compatible operating system). Using a more efficient protocol than the conventional USB (Bulk-only Transport) OFFERED, UASP technology optimizes transmissions by processing multiple commands simultaneously, significantly increasing transmission speed and reducing data transfer wait times. Improved performance with UASP
UASP is supported on Windows® 8, Server 2012, and Linux Kernel 2.6.3 or later. In tests, UASP showed up to 70% higher read speed and 40% higher write speed compared to a traditional USB 3.0 at peak performance.
At the same peak, UASP also showed a 80% reduction in processor resource requirements in the test.
Test results were obtained using an Intel® Ivy Bridge system, 3.0 USB StarTech.com mezzanine cards, UASP-enabled StarTech.com-Gehäuse, and SATA III solid state drive.
