The Portenta H7 Lite is a cost-effective solution for complex environments where wireless connectivity is not suitable or possible. It is perfect for developers who want to harness the processing power of the Portenta H7 without relying on video output or advanced security features.
The Portenta H7 Lite board simultaneously runs high-level code along with real-time tasks.
Program it with high-level languages and AI while performing low-latency operations on its customizable hardware. Its two asymmetric cores allow it to simultaneously run high-level code, such as protocol stacks, machine learning, or even interpreted languages like MicroPython or Javascript along with low-level real-time tasks. The main processor of the Portenta H7 is a ''dual-core unit'' consisting of a Cortex ® M7, running at 480 MHz, and a Cortex ® M4, running at 240 MHz. The two cores communicate via a ''remote procedure call'' mechanism, which seamlessly handles the calling of functions to the other processor.
Both processors share all on-chip peripherals and are executable with
• Arduino sketches on the mbedOS
• native mbed applications
• Micropython / Javascript via an interpreter
• TensorFlow Lite
The Portenta H7 board follows the Arduino MKR form factor, but is also equipped with two 80-pin high-density connectors on the bottom of the board. This ensures scalability for a wide range of applications by simply customizing your Portenta board with a Portenta Shield according to your needs (see ''Accessories and Alternative Products'')

The most significant change that we have made is to replace the HDMI interface with two Grove connectors. Grove is a modular, standardised connector prototyping system that lets you create applications with no soldering or jumpers required. What's more, we have replaced the 5-V connection with a micro-USB host so that the board can be operated more comfortably.
Please note that despite the changes we have made, BBG is still fully compatible with BBB and its accessories.

- is based on the ATmega328P MCU and is equipped with the Arduino UNO bootloader
- enables programming via a micro USB cable
- power supply via DC Jack input, accepts 7 to 15V
- switchable operating voltage between 3.3V and 5V
- integrates an ATMEGA16U2 as UART-to-USB converter
The board can be operated both via a micro USB cable and via a DC jack with an input voltage of 7 to 15V. The ability to switch the system voltage between 3.3V and 5V is particularly advantageous for applications that require lower power consumption. Programming is straightforward via a micro USB cable, with the ATMEGA16U2 enabling communication between UART and USB.
In addition to the hardware, the Seeeduino V4.2 provides access to an extensive collection of over 300 Grove modules, allowing connection and experimentation without soldering or jumpers. These modules cover a wide range of applications and support both open hardware and open source software.
Technical specifications
